Just finished this excellent book by Caroline Van Hemert who, together with her husband, took a 4,000 mile trek from Bellingham, WA, to the Arctic Coast, by foot, rowboat, ski, packraft, and canoe. It is an entertaining travelogue, and the author is an ornithologist, so her observations about the natural history they encounter, particularly the birdlife, are exceptionally keen and insightful. This was a remarkable journey, recounted in an engaging and entertaining manner. I highly recommend this book. For those who are interested, the author was interviewed on the most recent episode of the Backpacking Light podcast.

This does look good. I’ve got it on my digital library shelf now for a future read. Thanks for posting about this book.
