I'm in the middle of planning the menu for my September IR trip and will be borrowing some of your ideas. Thank you!

Isle Royale in September is great provided you are prepared for limited services and cold nights. Backpacking? It tends to turn cold, windy, and the Lady gets rough as the seasons turn. Backpackers will be ok, kayakers need to rethink things on open water and some of the protected waters too.

I looked at the average temps for September and it said daily high of 60ish and a low of 40ish. Both are quite acceptable. I chose September because the summer got away from me and I really need some solitude.
Will pack some seasickness pills for the ride there and back. Thanks for that tidbit.

And, Tomas, shelters will probably be available in September but honestly, shelters tend to be colder to sleep in than tents. Best choice might be a free-standing tent you can set up to cut the wind and contain heat, inside the shelter.

Final report: best lunch was rehydrated hummus on crackers. I could have eaten this every day! Crackers did ok in Tupperware boxes for 10 days, however the Tupperware boxes leaked when used to cold-soak salads after I used up the crackers. Tortillas were good and they make a very good placemat for lunch. I ended up keeping the tortilla bag handy to use even after I ran out of tortillas. Rehydrated cabbage salad was just ok-I think I must have used more sauce when I tried it at home. And, the German-style potato salad is very tasty hot, more so than if cold-soaked.
I had the food packed out in exact portions, in four-day bundles. I was never overly hungry, and only brought home 2 packets of instant oatmeal from some breakfasts I didn’t eat. So, I think I got the quantities right. Thanks for all the suggestions!

I don't expect much in the way of crowds, but still plan on sleeping in my tent most of the time.
My lunches will be tortilla wraps of different kinds - pbj, pb & honey, pouched meats, etc.
