After getting whalloped by wind-driven rain (the weather channel said a little breeze..), the Gila is back and out in force. Everything and everyone enjoyed the sun. Here’s deer pics .. The bad is the Gila is becoming much more popular beyond the CDT criticism. The (commercial) hot springs is now takes reservations and saw some RVs take off on bitty jeep trails, trying to get privacy

The bad is the Gila is becoming much more popular beyond the CDT criticism. It's still big enough to get away from people in the back country.

Should be CDT increasing numbers (how did that spell check go wrong?) More backcountry users too .. all year, but spring definitely. There’s getting away from the Middle Fork (though there’s a reason it’s a prime draw), so thinking of cutting across Woodland Pk., and there’s different seasons - thinking about more “wintry” gear. Still, a lot of fire damage outside the Middle Fork drainage will limit extended trips for awhile. Trails are re-established, but rangers tell me they are thick with thorns until the pine regrow to crowd them out by shadow.

Yeah, being along the long-distance trails is a mixed blessing. At least the increased traffic tends to be in a narrowly-defined corridor and at specific times of the year.
