More words later. Suffice it to say that everyone enjoyed the weekend.

Who brought the massive awning? Kudos! It was initially Zeke's idea. He bought this one and left it in my garage after PG 2016 or 2017. Extra funds have been used to pay him back. So now it is officially the Pickle Gulch kitchen. Since I moved into a smaller place this year, MsDolittle will be storing it at her place.

I'm really upset that I couldn't get there for yet another year, but my problems - and they are "my problems", so I won't spend much time bemoaning - run quite a bit deeper than just an old, dying auto. I've decided that - based on a recent, difficult reassessment of my position vis-a-vis the car and other things - I'll try to ( believe it or not) go back to work in order to defray both the recent "car expenses" (looking at something more "environmentally conscious" than a twenty-year-old car with a fuel-injected V-6 and a strong appetite for premium fuel) and some other ongoing concerns. So I maybe won't be around here even as much as my quite rare appearances in the last few months, supposing that someone actually hires me. The PG meeting looks "coolish". Earlier last week, my intention was to drive up through New Mexico, stopping at various "old haunts" I haven't seen in a bit, and ending up sometime midweek in Leadville, which I find strangely attractive (for some reason). The prognosticated temps for last week there in Leadville that I saw online were in the upper 20s, so I had tried to prepare accordingly. I'm sure we'll hear a bit more about what the gang did while there sometime in the next few weeks. I have tried to get a "fuller picture" of the campground, the meeting and activities from past posts, but we - the forum - have moved so much that I wasn't able to see much for some reason, though I didn't exactly spend a lot of time looking. I wouldn't want to impose, but we need (to quote Arlo Guthrie) pictures of the approach, the getaway, the northwest corner, the Southwest corner and ... aerial photography Just for myself - having never been there - I wasn't really sure of the extent of "facilities", so was planning something pretty much "stand alone" for myself. From the posted pictures, I needn't have worried.

Hey gabby, kinda thread drift here but I hope things brighten up for you soon. Leadville is actually a pretty nice area (though I haven't been there in several decades).

That was good, Deborah! I have seen at least a one or two of those pictures, I think, (or some like them from online) but, for some reason, I wasn't retaining the relevant images and information. I was unsure exactly how "primitive" I could expect, though I wasn't greatly worried about it. I assumed that there were at least some facilities there, given that it is labeled a "group campground" - and presumably, therefore, "family friendly" & "car camping friendly", so I assumed there'd be some kind of accommodation in the direction of bathrooms and such, but I wasn't clear on water and so on. I have no idea why I'm this dense!Anyway, maybe I'll find a way to get out again despite all my shortcomings.

I’ll add a few photos while I’m hanging out at the library waiting to head to the airport... First, for anyone who wonders, one tradition is eating well. On Saturday a few of us hiked to nearby Crater Lake in the James Peak Wilderness. The trailhead is at the east end of the Moffat Tunnel, so looks a bit industrial. Left to right: Mr. Rebecca (my husband Dave), Big Load’s shoulder, Rangewalker, and Jazzmom.
There was some attrition en route to the lake, but three of us made it. Whatever the activity, sacking out seemed to be part of it. We found Jazzmom halfway down the mountain pretending to sleep while actually listening to the very odd conversations people have while hiking. Saturday night Mike’s (Bluebear) daughter made s’mores for anyone who wanted them. They were excellent, and it was a great way to give her the fun of making a bunch of them without eating enough to kill and elephant. I’ll share more photos when husband Dave gets his fussed over, since he took more and better ones.

Great weekend! I didn't take very many pictures but here are a few from the last morning (Sunday). Breakfast brigade (Zeke, BlueBear), Rangewalker in the background Packing up (BlueBear, msdoolittle, Roger). Sorry for the picture quality... I was running after them. Farewells (rebeccad, Deborah)

Somehow I failed to take any photos. It felt great to see old friends and new, and just crash out, mostly listening to what everyone else had to say. Special thanks to MsDoolittle, Rob, Zeke, Deborah, and BlueBear for all they did to make it possible.
