M: Shovel some snow at work, otherwise, nada. Daughter's first of two birthday parties (some people couldn't show due to weather). Tu: I did something in the evening, not sure what. Shoveling? W: Nada... daughter's second of two birthday parties. Th: Nada... drive to Vermont. F: Downhill ski all day in tough conditions. 3,300 calories burned. Sa: Downhill ski all day. 3,200 calories burned. Su: Downhill ski until 1pm. Drive back home. 3,000 calories burned.
My average weight and resting heart rate for the past few weeks:
9/30-10/6: 178.1 47 (was 46 throughout July/Aug/Sept) 10/7-10/13: 180.5 47 10/14-10/20: 180.2 48 10/21-10/27: 179.6 48 10/28-11/3: 182.3 50 11/4-11/10: 181.3 48 11/11-11/17: 182.7 48 11/18-11/24: 183.7 51 11/25-12/1: 184.8 51 12/2-12/8: 185.4 50 12/9-12/15: 185.3 49 12/16-12/22: 185.4 49 12/23-12/29: 186.2 51 12/30-1/5: 186.8 52 1/6-1/12: 188.4 50 1/13-1/19: 190.8 51 1/20-1/26: 192.6 52
I typically run hills after skiing when I go to VT, but I was skiing hard (and weather was bitter cold with icy roads), so skipped the runs.
My weight remained stable after last week's spikes. Weekly average is skewed due to the spike late last week, plus not weighing myself while in VT. I'm down to 191 this morning. Hopefully I can keep it up (er, down).

Well, all of last week I was sick. Sick, sick, sick.
Today I'm feeling better after this past weekend of having the flu and doing nothing but sleeping. I still have a lingering cough and some congestion.
Hoping to get back to it this week, fingers crossed.

Nothing for me last week up until yesterday, Sunday.
Yesterday I got back in the pool and managed to get 600 yards in.
This morning I did an hour of spin class. My lungs were not happy, but I'm doing much better.

Jan 28 - Feb 3
A pathetic week, but decent weekend. The weather didn't help (-20F windchills).
M: Shovel driveway twice, including trying to break up ice. Truly a workout. Tu: Nada. W: 180 burpees during the SU basketball game. Th: Nada. F: Nada. Sa: Downhill skiing. 3,200 calories burned. Su: Trail run 5.5 miles in snow. 3,600 calories burned.
My weight gradually increased during week.
Feb 4 - 10
Four days to get certified in NYS to perform mold sampling. FOUR FRIGGIN' DAYS! FOR MOLD! Ugh. I tried to stay active to offset all the sitting. The weather generally cooperated.
M: Sit for 8 hours in training class. Walk 2 miles at lunch, and 1.5 miles in evening. 3,000 calories burned. Tu: Sit for 8 hours in training class. Walk 2 miles at lunch, and 1.5 miles in evening. 180 burpees during the SU basketball game. 3,100 calories burned. W: Sit for 8 hours in training class. Walk 1 mile at lunch. 2,600 calories burned. Th: Sit for 8 hours in training class. Walk 2 miles at lunch. 3,000 calories burned. F: Nada Sa: Fix stuff around the house. 200 burpees during SU basketball game. 3,400 calories burned. Su: Downhill ski for 4 hours. Trail run 3.5 miles. 3,200 calories burned.
Diet was horrible at the beginning of the week... nothing but fast food available at the training site. Not only did I hold the weight I gained the previous week, but once again, I gained 3 lbs in one day. Thankfully, I have lost 2 lbs since. But weight continues a steady rise when I should be losing before my Spartan race next month.

For the last two weeks I have been walking on the treadmill for about an hour every day at a 3.5 mph pace and between 6% and 8% grade. Some days I do two hours. I almost always do 1000'+ elevation on these, usually about 1300'.
I am definitely feeling better every day.

Still more of the same on the treadmill. I was pushing the treadmill work hard and started to feel tired and slightly week during the day. So I backed off a bit on the incline down to just 6% grade for 60 minutes and my energy levels are back up. Right now 6% feels easy, but I am going to continue that for a few more days, then try to steadily increase the grade and time again. When all this snow melts, I want to start jogging on the trail.
I have also lost weight and my BMI is now officially in the normal range for the first time in a decade.

M: Road run 3.5 miles w/ dog. 3,000 calories burned. Tu: Nada W: Shovel ungoldy heavy snow/ice. 3,000 calories burned. Th: Nada. Back sore. V-day. Sinus infection. Asleep by 7:30. F: Nada. Sinus infection better but relapsed in evening. Asleep by 8:30. Sa: House projects. Walk 1 mile going to/from SU lax game. Stomach issues. Su: Downhill ski. 3,000 calories burned.
I finally lost some water weight... 5 lbs midweek. Then stomach issues on Saturday bloated me right back up. I'm pretty sure dairy is the culprit behind Saturday's stomach issue and the underlying cause of the water weight I've been experiencing. Problem is, it doesn't always affect me. Maybe it has something to do with the amount, or in conjunction with something else.
I didn't ever feel bad during my sinus infection, but fighting it wiped me out.

So, apparently, after my spin class last Monday, bronchitis set in. I'm pretty sick of being sick. Fingers crossed, I'm finally on that back end of this and I can start doing activity again without hacking up a lung. Egads. It's been a long 4 weeks.

M: Run 3 miles with dog. Tu: All set to do burpees during the SU basketball game. Then I realized the game was tomorrow. Weather too nasty for running. W: 200 burpees during SU basketball game. Th: Drive to Lake Placid and walk around. Strong winds prevented me from running during the evening. F: Ski all day at Whiteface. Torqued my right knee wiping out on a jump. Had trouble sleeping due to pain/soreness. Sa: Ski all day at Gore Mtn. Knee sore/stiff but relatively OK. Actually felt better at end of day than beginning. Su: Lightly active all day. Shovel remaining ice from last week's storm. Walk for an hour. Knee feels better. I held last week's weight gain through mid-week, then didn't weigh myself during vacation later in the week... so weekly average is biased high. Good thing is I don't feel bloated anymore (except after pounding a bowl of spaghetti and a sausage sandwich Thursday evening!). I skied HARD this weekend, and felt good (except for my knee). Many times non-stop from summit to base (~3,200') with nary a leg burn/cramp. Today I did 65 minutes on the treadmill at 8% grade and 3.7 mph. I have done at least an hour treadmill workout for the past month except for two days. The bonus is that I feel great.
