I gained 2.7 pounds from 1 Nov 2018 to 1 Jan 2019. I am actually pleased with the weight gain as its the least amount of weight I have gained over the eat till I pop times. I feel this weight gain is highly manageable.
1st week of 2019.
First day: A cold 3.1 mile walk outside.
Thursday: 40 min treadmill, 400.07 calories. Single handle CableCross.
Sat: Landmine.

I was on "vacation" from 12/20-1/1. I didn't do a lot of exercising, but stayed relatively active. I buttoned-up a couple projects, and made good progress with a few more. Averaged around 2,800 calories burned per day. Yesterday, I went for a 2-mile hike with my kids, and a friend and his kids, on some newly-cut local trails. Weight remained steady except I gained 3 lbs yesterday (WTF!). Overall, I was very pleased with my fitness in 2018: - I ran just over 300 miles, and rode my bike over 1,000 miles (nearly all commuting to work). I averaged about 100' of elevation gain per mile (running).
- I competed in two Spartan races, a winter Sprint, and the Killington Beast, which is considered the hardest Spartan race of them all.
- I worked through a moderately-severe injury (severely sprained ankle), and a nagging injury (right calf "tendonitis"). I was able to keep riding my bike through both injuries, which was a blessing. I've been suffering with low back / hip issues for the past few years, and although I tweaked my lower back twice, both were relatively minor and healed quickly. I've done some heavy lifting and it has been fine. Mostly just morning stiffness now, which is usually alleviated by a foam roller and truck twists.
- My "base" weight is down at least 10 lbs.
- I keep setting PRs on hilly trail runs.
Time to start training for the Winter Spartan race in March... longer, hillier trail runs; strength training; Spartan-specific exercises (rope climb, rings, etc.); healthier diet. I'd like to be around 180 lbs for the race... base weight now is 185-186.

I was on hiatus these last couple of months. The beginning of the year always throws year-end close and too little time at me.
So, yesterday was my first day back on the wagon.
I managed to swim (or perhaps, flail) 500 yards.
My diet has been really erratic as well. We went back to our Keto ways last weekend and have been having serious keto flu symptoms this time around. Hoping things subside soon. But, in hind site, my weight didn't fluctuate much from the last time I weighed myself about 4-5 months ago. I think I gained 5 lbs, which really surprises me. It doesn't take me long to balloon.
So, here's to a new year and better habits. hahaha

On the LandMine, I did three sets of 10 Plyo's. I had watched a video on doing Get-Up_-plyo's on the LandMine. I did a modified version by skipping the get up part. I was winded, after each set. I am sore. I have not been this sore in quite a number of years from a weight workout. The kind of sore where it is easier to say which muscle is not sore then to list of what muscle is sore. I will make LandMine Plyo's a part of my land mine routine.

A few weeks ago, my training partner and I did a P90X Plyos workout. And like you, it was easier to describe what wasn't sore the following day.

I give up. I gained 4.5 lbs in 3 days, during which the only non-healthy foods I ate was a slice of pizza (that was dinner), a chocolate chip cookie, and a small bowl of pumpkin pie custard. Everything else was normal-sized portions of oatmeal, salad, meat, and veggies. After being active all weekend, this morning I weighed in 1.5 lbs heavier (190).

M: A burpee for every point scored in the SU/Duke basketball game. Final score: 95-91. That hurt. Tu: Nada... daughter's chorus recital. W: I was supposed to help coach my son's basketball team, but they didn't need my help. So I stood around for 1.5 hours instead of moving around. Th: Nada... had to work until 8:00. F: Nada... don't remember why. Sa: Downhill skiing. Shovel snow a couple times. 3,400 calories burned. Su: Shovel over a foot of snow. 3,100 calories burned.
My average weight and resting heart rate for the past few weeks:
9/30-10/6: 178.1 47 (was 46 throughout July/Aug/Sept) 10/7-10/13: 180.5 47 10/14-10/20: 180.2 48 10/21-10/27: 179.6 48 10/28-11/3: 182.3 50 11/4-11/10: 181.3 48 11/11-11/17: 182.7 48 11/18-11/24: 183.7 51 11/25-12/1: 184.8 51 12/2-12/8: 185.4 50 12/9-12/15: 185.3 49 12/16-12/22: 185.4 49 12/23-12/29: 186.2 51 12/30-1/5: 186.8 52 1/6-1/12: 188.4 50 1/13-1/19: 190.8 51
My weight spiked 1.5 lbs on Sunday, then another 2.5 lbs on Tuesday. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. It certainly wasn't my most active week, but I'm also not eating an additional 5,000-9,000 calories per day.
Maybe I'm just not getting rid of sodium... and need to "sweat it out". With winter temps, it's been a long time since I've had a good sweat.

I got home from Ohio last week Monday after gluttony and visiting with family. I couldn't bring myself to head back into the gym until Wed morning. I tried to go to spin class, but apparently it fills up quickly. All the reserve cards were gone for a 6am class at 5:45am. I guess I should expect that of Boulder.... So, I hopped on the treadmill for my first run in a couple of months. 2 miles and my muscles ached the next day. Egads. Friday I went to Master's swim class and swam 1,000 yards. It was a hard morning, but very worth it. Friday afternoon I started coming down with the crud. Sat and Sun I spent trying to figure out how hard it was going to hit me. Today, I know. I barely got any sleep last night and I'm miserable today. Wishing I were still at home in bed.
