Just a bump. It's been pretty chilly in AR recently (with a few warm spells). Been wearing the Cabela's base layers mentioned above today in breezy 22F to 36F temps. Good stuff and much better than Patty.
They are pretty tightly woven and provide much more wind resistance than I expected.

Interesting I know nothing of cabela's ecwcs but years ago I did purchase from a military surplus their gen ii ecwcs layer 1 both top and bottom. They've worked very well for me. Can't beat that for a total of $10.00

They cater to fishermen and hunters, so I always figured their product would be mediocre. A lot of hunters spend a fair amount of time sitting quietly in cold, wet weather.

Oh... I thought you got them for cold weather. When just standing or sitting around in wind chills in the mid-teens, it is cold to me. It's all relative to what temps one is acclimated with. And my ability to deal with cold and wind has dropped considerably in the last few years. I do get your humor though.

I have the base and mid layers and do like them, both for hunting and for hiking. Combining the two is a bit too much when I'm walking, but are excellent when stationary. Being completely synthetic, they dry fairly fast as well and the base layer does a really nice job of wicking away moisture.
