JimmyC was a true contrarian. In being so, he helped us define our own beliefs. As many times I disagreed with Jimmy, I always tried to get him to share his opinions. The Forums, and society in general, has lost a unique voice. Here's to JimmyC. Jimmy was among the few who approached the knocking about in the Political Forum with a sense of lightheartedness. He advocated his opinions without reservation, but also without rancor, and with more than a little humor. I enjoyed reading his posts, and he gave me plenty of chuckles over the years.

Awww! I actually met and hiked with Jimmy C at Lake Houston Park in New Caney, TX, many years ago. I can't remember anyone else who came on that hike. Chuck D was supposed to but work got in the way. Now Jimmy C and Chuck D are hiking the hills of Heaven. RIP

I am so sad to hear of JimmyC's passing. I had many laughs with him. He could not believe that I had invited him to go hiking with us at one time. It made him happy, although, we never did get that group together and hike.

Crap. First thread I look at on the new forums is this.
I'll be crankin' the AC with the windows open on my commute home tonight in honor of you, brother.

Jimmy's wife read the thread: Thank you for the forum's reactions. Jimmy was such a special person, and I am glad to read his hiking friends realized that, too. I recall I once asked Jimmy when he was visiting Backpacker if the other members knew about his condition. His reply was he didn't want anybody to feel sorry for him. Jimmy remained positive and fun loving throughout his illness...depression wasn't in his DNA. I laughed when I read the comment "push the button" , a commentary I heard many times, believe you me. Thanks to all of you for giving Jimmy so many happy hours. My sons and I are so proud of Jimmy; what a courageous battle he waged. Sincerely, Diane

"If you want to be loved, be lovable." I am pretty sure that is close to what JimmyC used to say.

Very sad to hear this news after coming to the new forum. JimmyC was indeed lots of fun, and will be missed.
