San Pedro de Atacama, Chile
Bolivia is back on the itinerary, which is good since the Salar de Uyuni was one of the two main reasons for coming (You can look up images for yourself). Sometimes when plans fall through it helps to ask the locals.
There's no camping allowed on the Salar, so getting with a group is mandatory, as well as ground truth regarding what's required to get in and out. (The Bolivian consulate never answers their phone, and various official government sites have conflicting information)
To say that it's dry and dusty here would do it a disservice.
7800ft, 82F,12%RH, 27F dew point, 22" mercury. I forget what the annual rainfall is, but I think it's an inch or less.
BL, DD and others would be in their element, but I'm not a desert person.
I think I have this smartphone thing figured out well enough for now. Never had one before, but with the need to change things on the fly this trip I finally knuckled under. My wife says she can see my location from the inReach, so that will ease her mind when I get to the backpacking part of the trip, probably late next week.
