It makes me sick to my stomach. I don't see any need for skinning the animal, other than a testament to somebody's ego. Whether or not the animal might have been a threat is irrelevant to desecrating its body.

I've heard of people trying to get information about sightings so that they could hunt rare animals, but I hoped that it would come to naught. It's disheartening.

Jaguars have been protected under the ESA for many decades. And yet the first one in recent history in the US (Macho B) was killed by a contract employee of the Arizona Fish and Game Department. The department didn't fully authorize in advance what was done, but they did go all out to cover it up afterward.
