trinity You know, I think you are right! The kingbird didn't even come up on my Merlin app for some reason, even when I search for it specifically. But it does come up on the site, along with behavioral video. I have a video of it hunting on the lawn -- which I can't seem to share here -- but seems to confirm it's a Western Kingbird. It's migratory pattern seems like it would line up as well, headed your way as the summer progresses.

I live in Nevada next to literally around 1 million acres of BLM land. We have the usual critters like coyotes, badger, weasels, rabbits and quail. The region has a lot of raptors. In the yard we see a lot of golden eagles, Great Horned owls, red tails, ferruginous, red shouldered, and other hawks, priaire falcons, northern harriers, kestrels, and many others. I can see wild horses from my kitchen window.
Mule deer are common on the other side of the valley but we don't see them here much. Mountain lions and bobcats are around. In the fall and especially during droughts like this years we have some black bears wandering around in the sagebrush in search of food in neighborhoods.
We get bald eagles in the spring during calving season, when they show up for the calf placentas.
