Bliss Pass, Yellowstone National Park I love that pass. Not hiked over much, but one of my favorites in Yellowstone. One year, on day one, I hiked into Pebble Creek via the trailhead near the park boundary to Pebble Creek Meadows and camped. On day two, I went over Bliss Pass to Slough Creek and camped. On day three, I went north out of the park to the Buffalo Meadows, did some map/compass work, and connected with the Buffalo Plateau Trail, which I descended into the park and down to the Hellroaring Trailhead. I had intended to camp one more night 7 miles from that trailhead, but it was rutting season and unfriendly bull elk at my intended campsite spurred me to move on.

Along with hiking up to Bliss Pass, we also completed a day hike to Wolverine Peak at the headwaters of Pebble Creek. From the top, you could see off into the Beartooth Wilderness. I'll definitely be heading back there at a future date. Looking into the Beartooth Wilderness from the summit of Wolverine Peak

Wolverine was not one that I've done yet, but have seriously looked at it. But, I've done some serious hiking in the Beartooths, and love that place. Probably my favorite wilderness in the lower 48. I have a complete set of topos, will hike in from a trailhead, and then go off-route using the maps and seldom see others. My favorite is a start from either Island Lake (crowded) or Beartooth Lake and then go in to a place called Flatrock Lake, which I use for a basecamp of Castle Mountain.

balzaccom, that’s lovely! To be a header, you’d have to choose a section of it in the correct aspect—about twice as wide as high. Did you share that on the art thread? I’m in awe of some of you who can actually paint something and have it look like something. It argues an astonishing amount of patience as well as skill.

Thanks, Rebecca. I'll post a couple of these on the art thread...and maybe one will fit the aspect...

It is a bit of a challenge to find images that will work with the small size and rather odd aspect ration.
The primary subject needs to fit into 400 px X 180 px.
There are lots of nice images in this thread, some I would like to use, but the crop would butcher them.
Please keep that in mind when taking your photos for this thread. Thanks!!

Again, I would love to use more photos from different people in the group, but the crop would ruin many that have been shared here. Please think about that as you are out and taking pics. This time the photos are mine, both of them. The photos do not need to be taken by a fancy camera. The trail background pic was taken with my phone camera. balzaccom I would be happy to use your painting, but do not want to take liberties with cropping it. If you can get it to something close to 400px X 180px, let me know and I will use it the next time.

Nice shot, Coolkat, but the wrong orientation. The header photos are pretty constrained…
