Just a thought, should guns have their own Board or Sub Board, 2nd amendment discussions belong in TPA, but some shoot for sport and recreation and I assume some hunt, thoughts? If a thread regresses to topics unrelated to backpacking it's probably not a big deal so long as the participants are like-minded. People often post about other outdoor hobbies. That being said, you know that guns are a hot-button topic and you should expect potential knee-jerk backlash if you start posting gun threads. Ultimately there are gun forums for that. Save yourself the frustration, eh?

Something I've noticed over the years is when a non political/emotional gun/hunting thread starts off in the TPA section, it generally stays rather civil. Start one in TR, it almost instantly goes TPA.

I was wondering if you made it. At the top of the forum, click on "Last Post".

Steve, when I try to go to "Destination > Central (Midwest)" I get this: " This board is password protected. Please enter the password to continue. Password: "
Any help would be great. Thanks

Man, I can't get the settings to stick! Hang on, I grabbed my duct tape and hard had, I'm goin' in... ; ; ; ;Okay, I'm back. I had to fight fire with fire! Now there ARE passwords and the password fo any regional area is 1. The number 1 (one)
It's stupid but it works. Now I have to go complain to Support for this lame glitch.
PS: These "Hey Steve" things ought to sent to me as a PM. I had to rediscover where this had been posted!

password for the destinations? I took his question to be asking "why is there a password for the Destinations?" I'm kinda curious about that myself, but I assume it has to do with some kinda short-term glitch in the forums, so I don't care enough to pursue it. Besides, I don't want to b**** too much about a good thing here. Thanks Steve!

a password for the Destinations? I'm confused by this. To be clear, the word Destinations is a box called a Category. When you enter that Category, you see Boards, set up by me to section off the areas we are used to from past versions. So Destinations (per se) has no password, but in that area, the Categories are each of the Regions, and I think they each have the silly password of numeral 1 needed. In fact I believe that once used, you return with was, a browser cookie unlocks the door. EDIT to amend: Re-reading Destinations plkural, I now see it as a general label for the list. Sorry. A work in progress, but I think it's almost there.

EDIT: Nevermind. Ignore my questions... I see it's just a temporary wonk in the software that's requiring a password for it. I'm sure it'll be fixed, sorry about all the questions.

why does getting into each Regional forum require a password in the first place? Man, I wish some of this info could be made universally seen. Here goes: It's glitch! Of course there is no reason for a password. When new categories are created, they each require a set of four options to be set: let anyone see, post, access, etc, plus a separate option to require a password. Problem here? That is the defaultD I can't imagine why? In trying to get things done, I forgot I had to tap into a section to shut that off! Then later, don't know why, doing something else seems to have set them all back to require a password. I had to go back and re-do all the settings. Wash, since, repeat. It was a comedy for the next few hours because I would unlock them, save, and wait for the next "Why?" question.,Sure enough, after several tries I surrendered and awarded the belt to Proboards; I SET a password of "1" (no, not with quotes!) and now it has calmed down. I don't promise that it won't do something else. It is only in Destinations, and Proboards gas unhelpfully sdaid they can't help. So for now, tap in 1 to enter, next trip back to that region you will probably not need to even do that (a cookie!)

password for the destinations? I have noticed that if you hover your cursor over the white Nav. Bar at the top of the page and the click the individual categories in the drop down it opens without a password?

Can we get stickers from the New Backpacker Forum? My bear canister can use one.
