I recently saw somewhere something about the possibility of cold-soaking Stovetop stuffing packets, and just wondered if anyone else had any other off-the-wall ideas for meals.
Cold soaking freeze dried meat works. I do that along with FD veggies like broccoli and some FD cheese. After it is rehydrated I drain off and gently squeeze out any excess water, put it in a tortilla, and add a packet of salad dressing, usually something like a blue cheese dressing. Yeowsa, what a taste explosion! I do that for lunch many times. Endless options for wraps. Just be aware, some meats take a looooong time to rehydrate. I'm looking at you FD turkey meat. Chicken does well as does crumble beef and diced beef. I used to get bacon jerkey from the Oberto outley store, but I haven't been there in a while. Getting it at the outlet store is the only way I could justify the cost. It was very inexpensive at the outlet but is pricy otherwise.
If you soak almost any of those boxed foods, like the noodle and rice sides, they will rehydrate. The same for mac and cheese, though most of the cheese is fake cheese. You can get all sorts of powders, like the sour cream powder, which add a lot of flavor to things. Any freezer-bag cooking meals will cold soak as well.
Now, for your stovetop stuffing. Add some stovetop stuffing to some instant mashed potaoes, add some gravy mix and FD chicken and let 'er soak. Once hydrated you should have some facsimile of Thanksgiving dinner. If you add FD corn and green beans ... even more so.
A breakfast you might try is instant oatmeal w/hot chocolate mix, dried fruit, and bacon bits. I used the bacon jerky when I had it. It is actually not too bad. You can substitute instant grits as well. And you can always add butter powder for added taste boost and a few extra calories.
Hope that gives you some ideas to use or riff off of.

PS: I see you are from WA state. The Oberto Outlet store is on South Rainier in Seattle and one is in Renton as well.
