rebeccad that is because last year she had to ride in the wagon and this year she could pull it, at least in shifts.

October 26, red hued fall leaf color of bog blueberry, vaccinium uliginosum, and yellowing water grasses in Siesta Lake of Yosemite National Park.
On the South Fork of the Tuolumne River, red hued creek dogwood, cornus sericea, and yellow hued willow. Am packed up to leave today on another short road trip to that area. More here:

Not really for the color, though it’s really nice, but rather as it’s a great example of WHY the leaves turn. The leaves shaded by the building, protected from the bleaching sunlight, stay green. The leaves hit by the sun, get the green chlorophyll bleached out revealing the other pigments. Science is fun. ETA: Univ. of Pennsylvania campus in Philadelphia.
