Got our federal refund back a few days ago. The state refund is usually a lot slower.

$1700 to CA but $1600 back from each OR and DC. Enough to pay off a $1200 loan and have $300 left

I need to send a fat check to the Treasury. State return just got mailed---for some reason I could not e-file (prolly cuz I am getting a refund and Illinois is broke so I will be forced to wait for my $950).
For $150, Turbotax made my life pretty easy, as it has for several years. I also do a Trust return, but I used TaxAct the past two years. Also works well. Cannot tell a real difference other than TaxAct is a bit cheaper, I think.

Filed in mid-March. I've used FreeFile Fillable Forms for the past few years, and have been happy with it. Got a small refund but applying it to 2017 (I file quarterly estimated). What's a state income tax?

$1700 to CA but $1600 back from each OR and DC. Yeah, I've noticed in recent years that the withholding for CA is messed up. You set it right for the Feds, and it seriously underwithholds for CA (and then they charge you for that...hmmm...). I filed in Feb, but the payment went in today.

I completely forgot about state taxes - can't remember why I didn't just do them with my Federal, but luckily I remembered yesterday. I owe $24 - always owe a fairly small amount to the state. Mailed the check today so it's in the hands of the Chicago postal service...in other words, it's a crap shoot if it will hit the deadline or not.

You must be subject to that millionaire tax!

Our big issue with CA is that I work and live here, my husband lives here and works in Oregon, so I pay no taxes in Oregon, but also much less to CA than he would because I earn only about half what he does but then in the end of course they want to tax everything
