For myself, when using commercial meals, I have typically found I eat 2 servings. I don't know where you put it. We're not that different in size, but I really have to force myself to choke down that second serving.

We're not that different in size, but I really have to force myself to choke down that second serving. I have an impressive appetite. It has slowed down a bit since I passed 50, but by, say, day 4 of a trip, I could eat a mountain goat, hooves, horns and all. In recent years, in the interests of weight reduction (both mine and my pack's) I've reduced portions quite a bit. Being a little hungry for a week won't kill me. I make sure we have enough chocolate to survive.

Here's Thurday's dinner. Not that you can see what it all is, but we adults are eating stuffing with chicken gravy, and Eldest Son is having mac and cheese with leftover pepperoni in it. Here he is polishing off the last of it, along with his summer reading assignment.

It is why for nearly all my recipes I have always done "man size" servings. Might sound sexist, but it works. So a "2 serving" recipe is going to be BIG ;-)

Beyond Meat Beefy Crumbles. 11 ounce package, plenty for 2 to share. No meat, no soy. gluten free. Now maybe Roger and I can share a taco recipe.
The Bad News is that these Beef Crumble vegetable things need to stay frozen until using them. Damn!!

Thanks for this great post and comments .They are very informative. I have vacuum sealer and I think it is very essential for us . A vacuum food sealer extends the life of your food by about 5 times by vacuuming out the oxygen, and sealing the food in safely. Oxygen is what causes spoiling of the food, so by blocking it out you protect your food from spoiling.
I have [a vacuum ealer .This is my favorite kitchen toy, its fantastic! And it pays for itself in how much longer food lasts in the refrigerator or freezer (Ex: I have 4 month old cream cheese that I sealed in a small bag and squeeze out like toothpaste as needed then reseal). I buy bulk quantities of beef, pork, fish, etc, portion them and freeze. I've eaten 2 year old fish that are still tasty and fresh.

@sealinglab, please read NO COMMERCIAL MESSAGES. I removed your profuct link. Talk about dehydrated food, talk about cooking it. Talk about a vacuum sealing to preserve it! Just don't use your first post to sell something 'cuz we aren't buying it.

The Fuller Brush guy came to our door one day, and was trying to sell my mom on how great his product worked for shining shoes. She brought out dad's church shoes, and asked for a demonstration. Mom was a good looking mom, I suppose, and this was when she was about 38-40, so still in her prime. Guy shined dad's shoes up to a brilliant gloss, then mom bought nothing. Told the guy thanks, and ushered him out of the house. Dad was not quite sure what to think.
Sometimes, salesmen are quite useful.
