To update my original post, wherein Novosibirsk, Siberia was around -49F, parts of Siberia are now hitting -70F / -58C. No word on the wind chill factor.

I only remember -57*F 45 years ago but if its anything like here in the GYE when it gets that cold there is next to no wind or humidity.

Been watching some YouTube videos of people camping in the snow.. both South Korea using a tarp with some elements of a debris hut and in the US with a full on winter dome with a fly having an internal reflectix-metallic like lining and port for the wood burning stove. All carried on backpacks (but how far?). Interestingly the Korean woman brought meat (pork belly) to cook while the American dude fried up a glorified grilled cheese .. sandwich. This is why Baja is really appealing... Still thinking Baja is better.
