gabby , thanks for the entertaining venture into the fascinating world of eggs and language. Seriously. reuben , fascinating video, at times very rugged and at other times very beautiful.

I didn't find that this was good science based reading. It has some selectively quoted science to reinforce the diet philosophy he sells in his books, CDs and DVDs. The way this opinion piece starts doesn't sound very scientific to me: If anyone is interested here is the page where you can buy his stuff:
Here is some info on the 2015 DGAC. This I would call scientific reading (ZZzzzzzz):
The word outrage doesn't appear once.
Also I would like to point out that I doubt anyone here eats chicken embryos. I believe the egg has to be fertilized to be an embryo. None of the commercial eggs are.

I drink some fancy ginger ale sold in a local store. It doesn't have high fructose corn syrup in it, which is allegedly the root of all evil. When I get a fountain drink, I mix 50% "regular" and 50% diet. I figure that way the diabetes and cancer will merely battle each other for control.

I figure it’ll be either life or old age that gets me in the end. Both are bad for your health.

I want to live in good health until I no longer choose to live. Right now I can't see any reason now or in the future not to live.

Typical, shoot the messenger, someone you obviously know nothing about... there is no redeeming value in eggs, especially for someone already knee-deep in a typical Western diet.
Suit yourself with what you shove in your gob, it's a free world. Just don't expect the science to be on your side...

Is it possible that just like you jump to the conclusion I know nothing about Dr McDougall have you jumped to the conclusion that "there is no redeeming value in eggs"? Did you read the scientific article I posted from the NIH?

For those interested in Dr McDougall here is a Wikipedia article about him: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_A._McDougallAnd an interesting quote from it: So possibly anything he says about diet should be taken with like 1000 mg of salt.

Hey Ernie, didn't take it as an attack on me, but on McDougall... again, what's your age, height, weight and BMI? NIH, scientific? I suppose you subscribe to the government's food pyramid? Would love to hear how your diet is working for you.
McDougall's "diet" (it's a way of eating) is based on what has worked most successfully world-wide in the "blue zones"... sometime pick up the most comprehensive study on diet ever, "The China Study." There's are thousands of MD's world-wide that embrace this way of eating.
Again, your mind, like so many, is totally closed to something out of the realm of your SAD (Standard American Diet) experience...

Again in protecting your belief system you are jumping to conclusions about me. It feels like a bit of deflection from discussing the Dr's views. Calling me closed minded when I read your article and participate in this conversation seems inappropriate. Can you show me any other corroboration from these thousands of md's of the dr's way of eating? Not of just reduced meat consumption.
