I have always been intrigued by the Niobrara River of western Nebraska. It is a wild & scenic river in a very arid place. A few years ago I drove across a small tributary near Crawford NE, and remember a very scenic landscape that seemed as wild as the days when the wagons were going through Scottsbluff.

"Oh yeah, well I've jumped over the Hudson."
I stepped over the Colorado. Didn't even get my feet wet. Many here have probably done the same.

Tough question. Not a real river enthusiast. This is the Heart River, Yellowstone NP. Selected only because I totally enjoyed hiking along it on the sunny side stopping for lunch and a nap.

I guess my favorite are all pretty much local. Hard to beat the Yellowstone especially since it flows through my city. Longest undammed river in the lower USA. I love the Missouri as it flows through the Wild and Scenic White Cliffs portion. The East Rosebud which rises in the Beartooths is gorgeous it's entire length. I loved hiking along the South Fork of the Flathead in the Bob Marshall Wilderness. And while it's not in Montana, the Lochsa in Idaho is hard to beat.
