Any other clothing choices and I’d give the victim the benefit of the doubt. But sweatshirt and sweatpants?
That’s way beyond not believable as a clothing choice into a Rocky Mountain 90 mph blizzard.

Universities, especially competitive ones such as that prep school, have a tremendous hidden challenge. My school loses two to three students a year who take their own lives. I was wondering if this was a case of suicide by exposure when I first read about this. It could be ... OR he may have thought of himself as kinda invincible. Individuals who see themselves as elite often highly overrate their skill level and decision making in instances like this. But suicide by exposure/fall could be the answer. It is not unheard of. Yeah, the books are full of people who routinely went way over the line and got away with it until they didn't. I don’t think the weather had gone full blizzard when he started. He may simply have been ignorant of what was coming. I’d call a failure to consider the forecast also a kind of belief in one’s invincibility. ETA: The article does mention that the people who saw him at the TH said the weather was “terrible.” He may, of course, have been trying to prove something, to himself or others.
