OK, I have plane tickets. Yay! Looking forward to this. We will be leaving home probably Sept. 10 and making our way to PG with stops for hikes on the way.

I was considering bringing eggs for Sat morning. I'd even cook them, as part of my contribution. Maybe a veggie scramble.

I guess I better start getting my sh!t together and figure out dinners. And I need to figure out our contribution. Probably fruit salads and oatmeal. If someone has a large coffee pot I’ll grab a pound or two of coffee. Maybe i can bring those trail cookies again. I think I could vacuum-seal them and they’d keep until we get there.

It's a Sweet Potato and Peanut Stew. Oh, Man! There was an African squash and peanut stew we had on the boat in Alaska that was great. I can't wait to taste this recipe. rebeccad I am bringing a 1 gallon pot, but it has no perk basket. In the past we have done it more cowboy style. Might bring some filters to strain it thru.

I have a large percolator pot. As mentioned above, I can't be trusted to bring the right coffee, so if you bring coffee, Rebecca, that would be appreciated.

We will be leaving home probably Sept. 10 and making our way to PG with stops for hikes on the way. This was my plan - start sometime around the beginning of the week and work my way there - but using Google maps, I find that it would take at least 3 300 mile days to do that (~950 miles from here to there). All depends on exactly when the guy at the repair shop finishes my vehicle. He promised Friday, but you probably know how that goes. If someone has a large coffee pot I’ll grab a pound or two of coffee. ** | |
I used to have one of those sets of steel porcelain-coated pots - a 16 qt pot w/ lid (which is still in the garage - saw it yesterday while cleaning out there), a coffee pot and a tea pot. The coffee pot and tea pot were confiscated by the wife for plants. I told her they wouldn't drain well, so weren't really fitted, but I don't win many 'debates' with her. The coffee pot has since disappeared entirely, but the tea pot is still "queued up" on a plant shelf on the back patio. All I have in the "gear room" is a Ti French press and a couple of Walmart teapots. I had thought of bringing a Coleman stove (I have a few.) in case an extra was needed. I got 2 of them out yesterday: an old one from the 70s and a new one which has never been used. I also have one with a burner and a grill, never used. Now if I can just locate the Coleman bottles. The hoses are in the stoves, but I don't know if I'd trust the one in the oldest stove. ETA: Assuming I get there (come on, car!), I should comment that I don't really eat enough that someone would have to cook. After decades, the wife now just leaves me to my own devices. Oatmeal in the morning with coffee (nasty instant!) and a salad or sandwich in the afternoon. Don't do "big meals" anymore - I'll take a couple of slices of pizza now and again, mind you, but only a couple. I subsist on heavily diluted Gatorade and an occasional glass of cheap blended white, mostly something dry, like chablis. (You know, in case there's a menu being prepared.) ** Wow! Same "internets" picture! I probably paid less than $10 (way less) for mine back in the 70s.

It occurs to me that we will have our basic 2-burner propane stove with us. Probably redundant based on the stuff other bring, but we’ll have it handy if needed. I will ensure that the coffee is ground :D

gabby No stove is required. We have plenty of burners already. There's always hot water available for whatever you need.

Just make sure it's not coffee beans! So it's not just me that does that sometimes?
